Floria Tosca, a famous opera singer, is in love with the painter Mario Cavaradossi. Scarpia, the chief of police, arrests Cavaradossi because he was harboring a political fugitive. When Tosca begs Scarpia to let her lover go, he accepts but under one condition: that she gives in to his sexual desires. Tosca agrees to do Scarpia’s bidding, but, at the final crucial moment, she gets her revenge. Cavaradossi, however, never returns to her side…
