Salzburger Marionetten Theater
Megaron Mousikis |

The world famous Marionette theater is the largest and oldest of  its kind. In 1913, Austrian sculpture teacher Anton Aicher, a lover of opera, presented a small opera by Mozart using marionettes he had made himself  before a group of friends. Its success was huge and thus the Salzburg Marionette Theatre was born.

“We are a large theater with small “actors” and a wide and varied repertoire which has charmed countless children and adults for almost a century, and has become famous throughout the world.

We present operas by various composers, including of course Mozart’s Magic Flute, as well as the Salzburg classic The Sound of Music, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet and Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream”
