Opening of new season
the athens house of photography |

The Athens House of Photography is launching its new season with a group exhibit of 25 prize-winning photographers from the competition “Photometria Festival 2012”, titled “Borders”. We are constantly looking for new collaboration with photography groups and organizations across Greece, and this year we have selected to work with Photometria.

Photometria Festival is organized by “Entefxis”, a non-profit organization. Organized for the fourth year in the city of Ioannina, it is the first interactive Photography Festival in which everyone who loves the art of photography can participate.

Our vision is for Photometria Festival to become a showcase of contemporary photography, to support local and foreign photographers, to educate and cultivate partnerships with cultural organizations and festivals in Greece and abroad.

“Borders” is a word synonymous with frontiers, defining the boundaries between people. For this year’s event we defined a theme with symbolic dimensions.

Photographers were invited to create a composition that captures and demonstrates not only a special culture, a society, a country, but anything that can unite or join us as we set limits in our daily life that are moral, existential, social, etc. These boundaries exist all around us, throughout our neighborhoods, countries, cultural points, common areas of expression and communication.
