EASTER BAZAAR (The School for the Deaf)

The Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will be hosting a bazaar this weekend, Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from 10am to 9pm at their boarding school in Drosia (Mavili 8, Drosia, North Athens, Greece, contact tel: 2108131139).

All the proceeds from the bazaar will go directly to helping the school fund their program and support their students. The boarding school houses 13 students (4 girls and 9 boys) from the ages of 14-24. The students come from surrounding villages throughout Greece, to include the Islands and also from neighbouring Albania. The students stay at the boarding school during the school year in order to attend a special school for the deaf in central Athens. The boarding school is currently located in a rented building, formerly used as a hotel. Due to the economic situation in Greece, they struggle each month to make ends meet and in general, services for the deaf, are rather limited. Please help show your support for deaf education by making a purchase or by simply stopping by.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give!

Directions: If you are driving there from Kifisia, drive northeast along Kifisias Avenue which becomes Leoforos Thiseos. You’ll pass through Nea Erythraia and Ekali. If you hit Anoixi, you’ve gone too far! Mavili is approximately the forth or fifth street on your right after crossing Leoforos Dionisou (which heads towards Schinias). There will be a restaurant called “Kimolia” in Greek at the corner and Mavili and Leoforos Thiseos. The turn is just before the traffic light leading to Aegean Gas Station. Turn right onto Mavili, which becomes a one way street. The school, a green building, is located at number 8 on the right-hand side, a few blocks down.
