The exhibition includes the majority of Dimitris Pikionis’s oeuvre, both in painting and architecture, acquired by the Benaki Museum due to a major donation by the Pikionis family. 
The first portion of the exhibition presents his paintings oeuvre in the groups he himself designated: From Nature, Recollections of Paris, Antiquities, Byzantine, Imaginary, Folk pieces. Painting was a private affair for Dimitris Pikionis, concerning his personal artistic path to maturity. 
The second part of the exhibition presents the sum total of his architectural oeuvre, his studies of the architecture of Zagora and Kastoria; a portion of his study on the Vernacular Architecture of the island of Chios; the issues of the Trito Mati (The third eye) Magazine (which was edited in a collaborative fashion by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Stratis Doukas, Spyros Papaloukas, Socrates Karantinos, Takis Papatsonis, Michalis Tombros and Angelos Theodoropoulos), as well as the testimony of his relationships with people such as Giorgio de Chirico, Bouzianis, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Yannis Tsarouhis, Angelos Sikelianos, Walter Gropius, Constantine Doxiadis and others.
