Constantine Manos “American Color”

The Athens House of Photography has the honor of presenting the work of the great Greek-American photographer Constantine Manos “American Color”.

Constantine Manos was born in South Carolina of Greek immigrant parents. He attended the University of South Carolina, where he received a B. A. in English Literature. He is a member of Magnum Photos and he lives in Provincetown on Cape Cod.

His photographs are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Bibliotheque National, Paris; George Eastman House in Rochester; the Museum of Fine Ars, Houston; and the Benaki Museum, Athens.

Manos is the author of five books: Portrait of A Symphony, A Greek Portfolio, Bostonians, and American Color. American Color 2 was published in September 2010. In 2003 Manos was awarded the Leica Medal of Excellence for work from his American Color series.

The exhibit will open on Thursday, May 23rd at 20:00 and will last until the end of August. Constantine Manos will be at the opening.

The works are all for sale, as is the catalogue of the exhibit.
Parallel to this exhibit, Constantine Manos will be showing his classic black and white work “A Greek Portfolio” at the Benaki Museum from the 21st of May until the end of August.

Monday – Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday – Friday: 16:00-20:00
Saturday – Sunday: 12:00-18:00
