THREE UPCOMING EVENTS. The Canadian Embassy is proud to announce that Canada will be participating in three key international events that will be taking place in Greece during July in Athens, Thessaloniki, Hydra, Crete and Preveza:

a) July 5-11, 2012:  VIVA!

Youth Singers of Toronto ( ), a vibrant, innovative choral organization for children and youth, will be performing at the International Choral Festival in Preveza, Greece (July 5 – 9, 2012), representing Canada.

On July 11, VIVA! will be sharing a stage with local Cretan Choirs for an evening of music from Canada, Crete and Asia Minor, as part of Heraklion’s Summer Festival. Info:  and


b) July 11, 2012: Performance of Electra in Bosnia, a play written by Canadian Judith Thompson at the Amphitheatre, 5 Tholou St, Plaka, Athens, 21:00. The performance coincides with the first International Women and War Conference taking place  in Hydra, Greece (July 3 – 5). Members of the academic, military, artistic, mental health and political communities will gather to exchange and discuss research on the experience of women before, during and after war. The conference will coincide with a Women & War photo exhibition July 1 to 8 depicting 60 images from 1945 to 1990 that portray women’s roles in war. Info: and


c) July 16 – 17, 2012:  The World Music Program at Brockton School of North Vancouver, BC ( has been selected by the International Performance Selection Committee of the International Society of Music Education ISME) to represent Canada at the 30th World Conference on Music Education in Thessaloniki, Greece. The selection of performing groups is made in accordance with ISME policies on musical and cultural diversity, and aims to offer delegates the opportunity to broaden their musical experience. Info:
