Athens Photo Festival (former International Month of Photography in Athens), is the annual festival of photography in Greece and a premier cultural event in Athens, established in 1987 by the Hellenic Centre for Photography. It is the first and longest-running international festival of photography and related media in Greece, and one of the five oldest of its kind in the world.

The Athens Photo Festival 2012 edition celebrates festival′s 25 years of active and creative presence, expanding continuously its range of activities and its role in a changing society. Therefore, Athens Photo Festival is firmly committed to promote a deeper appreciation of photography and related media, combining high-quality contemporary art with major issues of our time. The main program of exhibitions and events will be headquartered, for a second consecutive year, at “Technopolis” of Municipality of Athens, creating a challenging and exciting photography platform for a wider audience.

The festival′s success, to a great degree, is the result of collaboration and support of many fellow public and private organizations and individuals from Greece and abroad. The growing international recognition and critical acclaim of the Athens Photo Festival allows the Festival to attract outstanding projects and attendees from all over the world.

We will be updating the site with news and announcements regularly so keep checking back for more information. The 2012 program edition will be launching in September with full details on exhibitions and events during the months of October and November.

Photo Voices is an exceptional occasion for Greek audience and foreign visitors to hear from internationally acclaimed photo practitioners and thinkers who stands out for their dedication to photography. Under the motto “We Speak Photography”, Photo Voices is designed as a full program of 8 short talks to share ideas, images and visions on photography – and to provoke conversations that matter. Each presentation is around a 30-minute talk by a single presenter.

Many of the artists participating in the Photo Voices present an exhibition for the Athens Photo Festival 2012. Read more about the participating speakers.

The talks will be given in English with simultaneous translation in Greek.
