Athens Gardens Festival

You are invited to visit the National Garden at the center of Athens from 15th to 18th June 2013 and enjoy the ‘garden of the arts’ as part of the “Athens Gardens Festival”, hosting urban acoustic music and performing arts.

Four days of classical music and other European nuances, Greek art music, various Mediterranean genres, soundtrack, jazz and interactive performing arts, pantomime and visual performances will turn the National Garden into a magical place of artistic expression and creativity.
The festival is taking place as part of the annual program “Gardens of Athens” aiming at promoting the gardens of our city as meeting points of art and culture in general (including ecology) with citizens and especially young people and children.
The “Athens Gardens Festival” is hosted by the Athens Art Network in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens, OPAN (Athens Municipality Cultural, Sports and Youth Organization), the Directorate of Greenery, Athens “Technopolis” and the Athens Traders Association,Environment.
The festival is supported by ERT (Hellenic Radio & Television), 98.4 Radio Station, EATA (Athens Development and Touristic Promotion Company), the Attica-Argosaronikos Hotel Association, the EMSE-Cultural action, the National Conservatory Manolis Kalomiris and the Circus Dayz School.
Founder and artistic director of the festival is the coordinator of the Athens Art Network, Marios Strofalis.

6.30 p.m. Duo Capriccioso & Trio Cosa nosTres, Tribute to Spain and Latin America
7.30 p.m. Carousel,  A journey from Greece to the Iberian Peninsula
8.30 p.m. Athens Symphony Orchestra, “Dido and Aeneas”
6.30 p.m. Antonis Batsakis tenor, Opera meets Jazz, Tsjaikovski and Hatzidakis, with pianist Benjamin Hatzikoumparoglou
7.30 p.m. National Conservatory – Founder: Manolis Kalomiris, 1926
Part A, “Tribute to Antonio Vivaldi” by the “Hellenic Musica Viva”  string orchestra with Ludmila Limorova
Part B, “Tribute to Manos Hatzidakis” by “The National Conservatory Guitarists” with Vaggelis Boudounis
6.30 p.m. Triaccordo, Joseph Haydn & Carl Stamitz
7.30 p.m  Αcapella 8tetto vocal ensemble, traditional Asia Minor, Dodecanese, Medieval European songs,gospels and spirituals
8.30 p.m. Eastern Line by Nikos Papakostas with the Canto Mediteraneo ensemble – “A musical journey from Constantinople to Epirus”
6.30 p.m. El Duo De Dos, Traditional Argentine Tango a la parillia
7.00 p.m. Athens Chamber Ensemble 2012, from Baroque to contemporary music
8.00 p.m. Duo Fina presents “Finas Film Songs”
8.30 p.m. Marios Strofalis Quartet  – European Taxim  Ι & ΙΙguest Calliope Vetta
During the four-day festival professional teams from the Circus Dayz School, founding member of Athens Art Network, will participate in performing arts.
Actress Margarita Amarantidi will present the programme.

Admission is free
Central evening stage at “Asteri” square, entering from Amalias Avenue. Afternoon alternate stage in shady spots at the centre of the garden.
