Art exhibition
Within the framework of the Special Olympics 2011, the Danish Institute in Athens organises the exhibition “A PART OF US” with art
created by Danish adult mentally challenged artists.
The exhibition opens on 20 June at 8 p.m. and runs until 8 July.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday: 6-10 p.m., Saturday–Sunday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays closed.
Free entrance
The exhibition displays art created by students from Lysbroskolen (Silkeborg, Denmark), and Kunstskolen for Voksne Udviklings-hæmmede (Copenhagen, Denmark). Both schools make a special effort to motivate students and offer new possibilities, which can capture the students’ interest. The goal is to enhance the students’ personal expression in the creative processes and work with art in such a professional manner that the final results have value in both their own and others’ eyes. The aim is to have the art and the students represented in the public space through cultural participation in exhibitions such as this.
Tuesday 21 June at 8 p.m.: Lecture by Morten Christoffersen, Head of the Art work shop at Lysbroskolen, Denmark, “Art for Mentally Challenged Adults in Denmark: Methods, Means and Goals”.
