Herbert List Exhibit
the athens house of photography |

With the occasion of its second anniversary of operation, The Athens House of Photography has the honor of hosting the work of famous German photographer Herbert List, «Hellas».
Herbert List (1903-1975) had photographed for numerous magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Life and was a member of Magnum Photos. His images of Greece were takend between 1937 and 1939 – landscapes, sculptures, destroyed temples, human figures against the sea – and they form a vision of a classic Greece flooded with light and beauty. List’s work influenced a number of latter Greek photographers and has an important place in the history of photography in Greece.
World War II delayed the publication of his “ Hellas” book, which was printed in its final form in 1993 by the Herbert List Estate and Schirmer/Mosel. The Greek version of the book was published by Apeiron Photos in 2003.
All of the prints will be available for purchase, as well as the catalogue of the exhibit.

The exhibit, with the support of the Goethe-Institut Athen, will open on Thursday, December 20th at 2012 and will last until the end of February.
