Nella Napoli del 1973, Peppino Sansone, un sensibile bambino di 9 anni impacciato ed occhialuto, vive in una famiglia alquanto bizzarra: la madre è entrata in depressione dopo aver scoperto i tradimenti del marito; il padre cerca di distrarre Peppino regalandogli tre pulcini, che però faranno una brutta fine. A prendersi cura del bambino rimangono i giovani zii hippie, che lo coinvolgono in feste in discoteca e manifestazioni femministe.

The Athens House of Photography has the pleasure of hosting, for the second time, the analogue photography contest, PhotoRaid12 “12 hours, 12 subjects, 12 clicks, 1 film”. The competition will take place on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of May 2012 in Athens, at the Athens House of Photography. The contest is organized by the photography team Phasma2.

PhotoRaid is now in its 4th year and is aimed at anyone who is interested in photography and the messages that it can express. It gathers amateur as well as professional photographers of all ages. The particularity of this contest is that there is no designated jury and the winners are chosen by the contestants. The contestants have to photograph 12 subjects with one 12-pose film (35mm, color).

The contestants will receive on Saturday morning their film and the subjects that they will have to photograph. They will then look for the perfect photograph on the streets or in a studio, according to their preference on how they want to stage their work.

The only restriction is that they can only use one click per subject. It is this restriction that makes each minute even more fascinating but at the same time more challenging for the photographer who has to combine thought, imagination and ability.

On Sunday afternoon, all the photographs from the contestants will be presented to the public in order to choose which bodies of work stand out. After the award ceremony, a great party will follow!

The two winners will receive a free spot in a photography seminar organized by the Athens House of Photography. Runner-ups will receive various prizes such as photography books and camera bags.

The fee per person is 18 euros. Tickets can be prepurchased at the Athens House of Photography or on the morning of the competition.

The exhibition presents a selection of jewellery designed by some of the greatest artists of the second half of the 20th century and the start of the 21st. Pieces by Stephen Antonakos, Ben, Louise Bourgeois, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, César, Giorgio de Chirico, Jean Cocteau, André Derain, Max Ernst, Ablerto Giacometti, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Fernand Leger, Roy Lichtenstein, Yoko Ono, Pablo Picasso and Man Ray, are just some of the works shown, most of which form part of exhibition curator Diane Venet’s personal collection and constitute a fresh exploration of the links between what a silversmith does and art.

The exhibition has already been on show in France and the US. For itsGreek showing, the collection will be shown alongside works by artists who experimented with the form of jewellery.

Encardia live at the Herakleidon Museum

On the occasion of the celebration of the “European Night of Museums 2012”, theHERAKLEIDON MUSEUM and the musical ensemble encardia invite you, on Saturday, May 19th, 2012 from 20:30 until 22:00 to a music event.

The Night of Museums is celebrated for the eighth consecutive year on Saturday, May 19th 2012 with the participation of museums from all over Europe. The B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music opens its doors, inviting a wider public with free admission from 18:00 until 03:00 for a special night experience in its hospitable spaces, including the following events:

Free admission to the current exhibition “Christos Caras: Synopsis 1959-2012″. Christos Caras will participate in the celebration and sign catalogues and silk-screens.

At 18:30 “The code of short dragon” theatre play will entertain children 6-12 years old and their parents bringing them into contact with the creative source of music and language. Duration: 60 ‘.

Lolek, one of the greatest songwriters of the modern Greek stage, will present at the Auditorium of the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation a special acoustic set with songs from both ”Alone” and “Sea urchin” albums, as well as a selection from his favorite songs. Concert start time: 21:30.

Furthermore, Yelp dance team will present a special choreography, a silent world of bodies, alive through the works of Christos Caras, drawing mainly inspiration mainly from the artist’s work “The silent world of a remote seaside,” in which the abstract forms are blended in the landscape. Concept-choreography: Mariela Nestora. The event takes place in the context of the 11th Dance Festival of Greek Choreographers. Hours: 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00.

Additionally, open screening of the film “2001: A Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick will be on show at the Foundation’s Auditorium in dialogue with Christos Caras “space poetry” artworks. Showtime: 00:30. Duration: 141′.

Moreover, the art lighting team Beforelight (www.beforelight.gr), will present a light installation at the lobby of the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation. The linear arrangement of the coloured lighting of the lobby will give anew sense of welcome to the public. The event will conclude with the draw of 3 go-return air-tickets for thenew destinations of Air France (Marseille, Nice, Toulouse) from Athens!

Café Merlin will serve a special menu with greek delicacies, inspired by the theme of the current exhibition and the Art Shop will provide discounts up to 70% on selected items (posters, silkscreens, catalogues, decorative art objects, puzzles).
