about State School of Dance:

The Hellenic Dance Company, a group which was created by the director, Pavlina Veremi, in the State School of Dance, is employing both professional dancers and talented students of the School. Following the international standards of the greatest Dance Centers around the world, the company is creating a live bridge between the world dance arena and the current dance potential in Greece. Its foundation, by law, in 2007, was the crown of a 7-year effort, after constant presence to the Greek audience.

During those years, as well as during the ones that followed, the State School of Dance has invited significant creators from Greece, Europe and the US, to cooperate with the company. They have created pieces especially for the dancers of the company or have taught pieces from their already known repertoire.

Therefore, in the Hellenic Dance Company productions so far, pieces from some of the most important Greek and foreign choreographers of the 20th century are included, such as: Martha Graham, Pascal Rioult, Wim Vandekeybus, Martin Lawrance, José Limón, Mark Morris, Richard Alston, Zouzou Nikoloudi and Haris Mantafounis, as well as younger choreographers, such as Dimitris Papaioannou, Konstantinos Rigos, Antonis Foniadakis, Jasmin Vardimon, Athina Vachla, Josef Fruček and Linda Kapetanea, Hofesh Shechter, etc.

Through the presentation of these pieces, the company aims to familiarize the Greek audience with contemporary dance, as well as to promote and develop this genre on a national and international level. By working systematically, the Hellenic Dance Company has managed to create a significant status and artistic ties with some of the biggest companies in the world, presenting performances that have been, so far, very successful
