Half Note Jazz Club |

A very historic and a major figure in jazz, trombonist Curtis Fuller, from the mid fifties to the present day, is a personification of the post-bop developments as well, for a long time, we find him to support some of the greatest moments and bands in the history of jazz aesthetics. Clearly, more is known of the involvement of the legendary album “Blue Train”, the John Coltrane on Blue Note, 1957. But Curtis Fuller that almost covers the entire history of jazz was next to Bud Powell, was in the sextet of Miles Davis, was with Sonny Clark and Jimmy Smith, was a member of the Jazz Messengers Art Blakey and the Jazztet Benny Golson and Art Farmer, played with Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and the many others!

With Jamaican descent, but raised in Detroit and artistic andromenos local jazz scene, Curtis Fuller considered the top modern jazz trombone and constant presence in the jazz scene for decades as a sideman or as a player, make him one of the top personalities going concern mainstream jazz. Recent album compared to “classic” – to the Timeless, the Impulse, the Epic, the Blue Note, Prestige, only the top companies that jazz. Now in almost 79 years, the lyrical improvisation remains strong and his personality continues to radiate.
