C.P.Cavafy: “Painted”

The B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music, in cooperation with the European Cultural Centre of  Delphi, organizes the multifaceted exhibition C.P.Cavafy: “Painted”. 40 Contemporary Greek CreatorsThe European Cultural Centre of Delphi participates as a co-organizer within the framework of the approved program WITH EXQUISITE MUSIC, VOICES- 150 YEARS FROM THE BIRTH OF C.P. CAVAFY’- National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013. The exhibition will open on the 25th of September 2013. Exceptional works of art by distinguished artists will be presented such as Nikos Hadjikyriakos-GhikasYiannis Tsarouchis, Panayiotis Tetsis, Basil Theocharakis, Christos Karas, Kostas Tsoklis, Constantin Xenakis, Dimitris Mytaras, Alekos Fassianos, Sotiris Sorogas, Michalis Makroulakis, Achileas Droungas, Alexandros Issaris, Alekos Levidis, Apostolos Fanakidis, Yiannis Psychopaidis, Zacharias Arvanitis, Vana Xenou, Yiannis Adamakos, Stephanos Daskalakis, Angelos Papadimitriou, Michalis Manousakis, Michalis Arfaras, Kostas Varotsos, Irini Gonou, Vassilis Papasaika, Christos Bokoros, Edouardo Sakayan, Marios Spiliopoulos,  Manolis Charos, Michalis Madenis, Alexandra Athanasiadi, Giorgos Gyparakis, Giorgos Rorris, Alexandros Psychoulis, Nikos Charalabidis, Ilias Papailiakis, Antonis Choudalakis, Telis Sofianopoulos and Antonis Stoantzikis.

The artists develop a dialogue with Cavafy’s work choosing poems which form their visual outlook. Imaginative paintings and sculptures, immediately related to Cavafy’s poetic realm, reveal a universe where writing and image coexist.
