Hello, we are GloVo!

Our vision is to create a global volunteers community with certain values,
which will offer a unique experience to volunteers and quality to events.

GloVo is a global volunteers platform, which enables people from all over the world to register as volunteers and participate in many kinds of events, according to their skills, location, interests and the event needs. Also, event organizers can register their event, thus assigning the volunteers’ recruitment, selection, training, allocation and coordination to GloVo.

GloVo was founded by a group of university students on 28th September 2012, during Athens Startup Weekend University, a national entrepreneurship contest, in which GloVo won the second prize. GloVo’s name stands for
Global Volunteers and its values are Passion, Responsibility, Integrity, Motivation and Enjoyment.

Volunteering

Volunteering is generally considered to be an altruistic activity, aiming to promote the good and improve human quality of life. Through volunteering someone can serve the society through his/her own interests, personal skills and knowledge, which in return produces a feeling of self-worth and respect, instead of money. Volunteering also leads to skill development, socialization and fun. Last but not least, useful contacts, which may result to future employment opportunities, can be made between volunteers and attending employers.

Volunteering can help in many situations, according to the volunteers’ skills and abilities. Most volunteers usuallyoffer their services according to their working fields, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Other volunteers serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster or a call for a beach cleanup.
